Command line arguments

Command line arguments specify values to the server program at the time it is invoked, and override default values which are compiled into the program. Generally if all configuration information is contained in the appropriate configuration files, and these are in their default locations, no command line arguments are necessary.

The document is mainly of historical interest as obviously many of the sites mentioned have long since disappeared.
