Extended keywords

GN extends the basic set of keywords to encompass information that is relevant when serving documents as an HTTP server, and to provide extra functionality.

The extended list comprises the following:

Attribute

Indicates a characteristic of the item. Valid values are: gopheronly, httponly, gnlink, invisible and nosearch.

ContentType

The MIME type of an item.

ContentEncoding

The MIME content encoding for an item.

Hname

Specifies the name for an item that will only be served in response to HTTP requests. A start anchor tag is constructed.

URLlink

Specifies the name for an item that will only be served in response to HTTP requests. The URL is given by the Url field.

Url

The URL of an HTTP item specified by the URLlink field.

All items served by the GN server must be listed in a menu description file. There may be items that should be served, but should not appear in menus as seen by the user. An example might be an image file that is referenced by an HTML IMG element. Such items can be prevented from appearing in user menus by tagging them with the invisible attribute.
