Testing dynamic documents

As CGI scripts are executed by a Web server only in response to remote requests, devising a test plan for CGI scripts can at first sight seem problematic, but in most cases need not be difficult to achieve.

As with all programming, planning for testing at the design stage can make the testing process more straightforward. It can be useful to incorporate a debug mode, whereby the script takes some or all of its input from built-in tables to perform self-tests with predictable output.
