Network security issues

Paradoxically, the very thing that makes computer networks so useful and popular, their ability to enable communication between an ever-increasing number of people on a global scale, is also the thing that renders them vulnerable to abuse. The fact that you are reading this book probably indicates that you have an interest in reaching at least some of that global audience. Unfortunately, the corollary is that some of that audience also has a less than benign interest in reaching you, or at any rate your computer system.
