HTML validation tools

There are a number of validation tools that can be used to check the syntax and completeness of HTML documents. Some of these can also be configured to check for specific style abominations, such as the use of `Click here' as the text for a hypertext link. There are also validation services available on the Web, which offer facilities both to validate entire documents and to answer short questions about HTML syntax. For more information on these please refer to the Resource Guide at the back of the book.

Note: this HTML document was generated in December 1994 directly from the LaTeX source files using LaTeX2HTML. It was formatted into our standard page layout using the Template Toolkit. The document is mainly of historical interest as obviously many of the sites mentioned have long since disappeared.
