Validation services

Validation services are available on the Web, based on sgmls, a free SGML parser written by James Clark. The Halsoft HTML validation service, illustrated in below, can be used to validate entire documents, or to answer specific questions concerning HTML syntax. Communication with the service takes place using fill-out forms. The Georgia Institute of Technology College of Computing provides a very similar service. In order to use these services you need to be running a Web server, and to have the document requiring validation accessible via the server. Both the Halsoft and Georgia Tech sets of validation software can be downloaded. Both require sgmls, which is available elsewhere.

Note: this HTML document was generated in December 1994 directly from the LaTeX source files using LaTeX2HTML. It was formatted into our standard page layout using the Template Toolkit. The document is mainly of historical interest as obviously many of the sites mentioned have long since disappeared.
