NCSA httpd

The NCSA HTTP daemon was written by Rob McCool. The most recent version is 1.3, which was released in May 1994 and is in the public domain. It supports the following features:

  • Can be run from inetd or standalone.

  • Configurable mapping of URLs to files and scripts.

  • Configurable typing of resources.

  • Access authorization mechanism.

  • Automatic generation of directory listings as HTML documents.

  • Serving of users' private Web pages.

  • Server-side inclusion in HTML documents.
