Mailing lists

A number of electronic mailing lists exist for discussion and announcements of matters concerning the net.

[email protected]

For the announcement of new Web sites and Web-related software.

[email protected]

For general discussion of Web-related issues.

[email protected]

For discussion of HTML, including future directions.

CERN maintains a list of Web-related mailing lists:

http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/Administration/Mailing/CERN_mailing.html

The way in which you get onto a mailing list differs according to the mailing list software used. Do not send a subscription message to the address of the list itself, as the message will go to all subscribers, who will be justifiably irritated. In the case of mailing lists maintained at CERN, send an email message to:

    [email protected]

with a single line in the body of the message:

    subscribe name-of-list your-name

Full details of the procedure are included in the document mentioned above.

The document is mainly of historical interest as obviously many of the sites mentioned have long since disappeared.
