Case Studies

The Web is already being put to a myriad of different uses: educational, recreational and commercial. People are inventing new uses for it all the time, limited only by the extent of their imaginative powers. It is being used by individuals, businesses, institutions and government organizations. This chapter provides a small and deliberately eclectic selection of outline case studies, to give some idea of the diversity of uses to which the Web lends itself, and to stimulate the imagination of the reader. Of course, the best way to appreciate the diversity of the Web in all its glory is to get hold of a browser program and take some time to explore the Web itself.
